The Accommodation - four furnished self-catering homes. Reservations by the week from June to September and over the weekend or by the week for the rest of the year. Each of the four houses is independent, and each has its own terrace with table and barbecue. These houses are situated in the estate of a medieval castle. The houses have been lovingly restored recently. The castle was restored at the end of the 19th century.

Sommery castle and its estate date back to the year 10 AD when the Romans discovered the marble quarries on the north bank of the Loire and built a bridge over the river. On the high land overlooking the river and away from the spring floods they built a fortification known as Summa Riva. This fort was constantly modified over the years together with the small agricultural development that surrounded it. By 1280, the name had changed to Sommery which has remained until this day. The Castle was completely restored in 1870. Sommery overlooks the river Loire. Gilly with its post office and village shop is half a mile away. For general food shopping, Digoin is 12 miles away. You have a wide choice of fresh fish, wine, meat and everything else you might want. In Digoin there is also a main post office and there are three banks.
